About DRCSC

Been Here Since 2009

Del Rey City S.C. is a professional soccer club with teams competing in the U.S. 4th Division National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) and the 5th Division United Premier Soccer League (UPSL).

The club was founded by a group of FoxSoccer.com and FoxSports.com employees in 2009 as an adult, recreational 7-a-side soccer team originally named Del Rey United. In October of 2009 the decision was made to expand the single team into a full club and in February of 2010 three Del Rey City SC teams were entered into the Santa Monica Adult Soccer League.

The club ran its own 7-a-side soccer league in 2010 and small-sided tournaments in 2010 & 2011. In 2012 Del Rey City SC had between 6 to 12 teams playing at that same time in any given season in leagues on Los Angeles’ Westside and Southbay.

Near the end of 2012 DRCSC began to make the transition from an adult recreational club to a professional team and in 2013 joined the NPSL. As of August 2014 Del Rey City SC has approx. 200 active players.

Our Home: Marina del Rey

The club is headquartered in our home of Marina del Rey, California, and was named for the the three adjoining neighborhoods of Playa del Rey, Del Rey, and Marina del Rey.

The club has built its name on the Westside and SouthBay areas of Los Angeles which includes the communities of Santa Monica, Venice, Del Rey, Playa Vista, Culver City, Westchester, Playa del Rey, Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach, and the club’s home of Marina del Rey.

We consider our club to be a permanent fixture in The Marina, like to associate our club with the local communities, and are proud of the area in which we live – a vibrant community of residents, boaters, tourists, and County residents.

Philosophy

We emphasize good sportsmanship and expect model behavior from our players on the field. While we view soccer as a physical sport and believe our players should play hard, we believe, above all, in playing fair. We discourage tactics such as diving and do not tolerate intentional fouls and reckless play which may seriously injure another player.

Soccer is a team sport and players must get along and work together in order for a team to be successful. For this reason, we strive to develop a camaraderie throughout the club in addition to maintaining it on the field. To help accomplish this, we don’t allow our players to yell at, blame, or argue with one another on the field. Nor do we allow arguing with referees or club management.

Mission Statement

Del Rey City Soccer Club is working to build a highly organized, local soccer community on Los Angeles’ Westside by helping and encouraging others to develop local clubs, teams, and soccer leagues. We wish to bring attention and notoriety to Marina del Rey and neighboring communities throughout the entire US soccer community.

We promote our view that soccer is a sport to be played competitively while emphasizing our values of teamwork, enjoyment of the game, professionalism, and good sportsmanship. We work to maintain a high standard of on-field behavior and focus on fair play, tolerance, self-control, and friendliness towards all other teams and players.
